About the event
Christine Merser aka Hollister, host of Screen Thoughts, will be leading a film series at The Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta, Maine beginning on February 8th. This first season of this four part film series will focus on America’s Racial Struggles on the screen. Enrollment in the full series is open now through Fri Feb 9. Films in this series will include, In The Heat of The Night, Mississippi Burning, To Kill A Mockingbird & lastly, a film selected by the group. Each of the films in the series have such interesting histories, both in their production and often their reception by the public. Christine will do a fifteen minute introduction to the film, which will not give anything away, but give you some insight as to what to note along the way. After the film, she will lead a discussion around the historical context, how the film affected the public when it was released, and in some cases, its continued value for society.
