Film Review: You Can See Everything
Updated: 47 minutes ago
I had already questioned why everyone was so consumed with Elizabeth Holmes. Then Wilder told me to get my ass to the movie theater. Fifteen minutes after I left, we were recording this conversation. So much for my lofty position. On this episode of Screen Thoughts, we wrestle with a film that had me questioning everyone on the screen, including the man behind the camera. Who is manipulating whom? When does compassion become another opportunity to be played? And how does Amanda Seyfried, an actress brought in to portray someone else, become the person whose judgment we trust? There’s money, control, silence deployed like a weapon, and my own history with an early Theranos investor who wouldn’t hear a word against Holmes. I thought I had plenty to say before I saw this film. Apparently, I was just getting started.
